Drove aimlessly around Vedauwoo -- had no park map, no climbing guidebook, and there was no park headquarters at which we could get either.
Drove aimlessly around Laramie -- got the address of Colorado Custom Hardware from a phone book at a gas station, drove to their shop, which was a crummy looking little industrial warehouse building down by the railroad tracks, guarded by three big black barking dogs. The only entrance to 115 Lyons St had a privacy fence with a sign on the gate that said employees only. Didn't seem like there was any chance of checking it out, and didn't want to get out of the car with those dogs around, so we left.
Drove aimfully through Fort Collins, CO to Estes Park, CO, where we rode horses. I rode Graham Cracker and Laurel rode the horse with no name... towards the end of the trail ride it started sprinkling a bit (I mean the weather, not the horse, although...).
The mountains in the background of that picture belong to the Never Summer range. That's snow on them. In July. Hopefully the 14'er we decide to hike won't be snowcapped.
After Estes Park we drove part of the Peak-to-Peak route towards Boulder. It was very scenic.
Finally got to the Boulder Mountain Lodge! Checked in, did laundry, groceries, made dinner, and now it's time for bed. Might see a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream tomorrow night if we can get tickets.
